Biography

Rina Rosa Maria Tomasi Wortham was from the Trentino region of northern Italy where her family farmed and her one brother, Ezio, became a priest. Rina grew up and lived in both the mountains of Trentino & the city of romance, Verona, Italy.

Rina and her family lived under Mousseline’s fascist government and during this time Rina worked in a stocking factory and regularly rode her bike through Verona. When Nazi troops occupied Verona during WWII, Rina’s family sent her back into the mountains of Trentino for safety. Upon the liberation of Verona by US forces, Rina came back to Verona and met her future husband, John Wortham who was in the US army. After the end of WWII, Rina and John married and moved back to Arkansas. Not feeling settled, the couple returned to live in Italy and Germany through late 1940s to the mid-1960s with John continuing to work in the US military. During this time, Rina had two sons, Ray and David. Eventually, the family returned to America living in Arkansas, Georgia and Alabama.

Rina was an active member of the Catholic Church, supported many charities and a long term Red Cross volunteer having trained as a nurse.

Rina lived her life to the full and was very independent and spent plenty of time travelling Europe. Rina was aware of current fashion and very stylish; no matter what she wore she made it look good.

Rina is survived by three grand-daughters who reside in America and Europe.
